I find support groups to be beneficial to patients, family and friends. Local support groups provide a face to face meeting place that help erase feelings of hopelessness and despair. They let you know you are not alone. Internet List Servers are another source of support. They are my 24 hour a day support group much like local support group except there are no cookies and coffee. During many of the sleepless nights of my recovery I find myself on my computer sharing support with over 1,000 people from almost every country in the world. They are patients and care givers, family and friends, nurses and doctors from almost everyplace imaginable. I have found the finest people in my life in my cancer support groups.
