Dear Senator Gorton:

This is in response to you' letter of September 3, 1992 on behalf of your constituent Robert F. Farmer's inquiry concerning Mr. Richard Ketter.

Our records indicate that Mr. Ketter was provided forms for filing for continuation of (COP) on the date of injury. Mr. Ketter filed this notice and was covered under traumatic leave for the period of May 5, 1992 through June 18, 1992.

The form for claiming continuing injury compensation through the Office of Worker's compensation was provided to Mr. Ketter by the Shipyard, although not in a timely manner. Mr. Ketter, however, requested and was granted advanced sick leave. This advanced sick leave, along with his annual leave, covered the intermittent periods of absence from June 19, 1992 through September 17, 1992.

Errors occurred in the disbursement of funds to Mr. Ketter during the continuation of pay period. These errors have been corrected and all monies due have been paid.

The Shipyard continues to work with Mr. Ketter to facilitate him through his injury claim process. He has requested additional advanced sick leave and is currently awaiting approval of the request.

I trust this information will assist you in formulating your response to Mr. Farmer. Please do not hesitate to contact Puget Sound Naval Shipyard if additional information or assistance is required.

Sincerely,

G. R. YOUNT
Captain, U. S. Navy
Shipyard Commander
