Tributes to Julia

On Sunday, the eighth of December, 1996, Julia Christina Rosetti flew away from pain and suffering, after fighting leukaemia for over four years. She is sadly missed all around the world, in Australia, the land she loved, in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. From all over the globe, messages mourning her death and celebrating her life have poured in.

Trying to design a tribute has been difficult. How do you best describe a devilish angel whose first sentence was "I can do it by myself", who smiled her way through life in with an odd combination of charm, determination, love of life and a dry sense of humour that was often only too accurate? After much thought, we decided that the words of others - those who loved her - would form a fitting tribute to an angel who reached out and touched so many lives.

Our sincere thanks to the many people, who, knowingly or unknowingly, have had their words reproduced here. There can be no greater tribute to our beloved daughter and sister than the words of those who loved her.

In one of the stars I will be living.
In one of them I will be laughing.
And so it will be that all of the stars are laughing, when you look at all
the stars at night...
You - only you - will have stars that can laugh!
And when your sorrow is comforted, you will be content that you have known
me, as I will be content for having known you.
And we will always be friends.

- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Who You Really Are.....

It's not how much money you have,
It's not the kind of house you live in,
It's not the type of car you drive,
It's not the kind or amount of your possessions,
It's not your looks nor what you wear,
It's you serving humanity,
that speaks loud and clear,
of who you really are.

- C J Fenner

"God's garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best!"

"...she was a bright, shining flame in what often seems to be a bewildering darkness."

"...she spread joy and happiness to all of us. Jule is happy now. She is somewhere eating ice cream and cookies and dancing and singing, like she always wanted to do. I will always remember her."

"I'm sure there was always a halo over her head...my life is better for having known her."

"...she always seemed to know exactly what to say."

"...the sunshine which she gave so readily to everyone will now shine on in her always."

"Just living with a daughter like Jule sounds like a miracle in itself."

"...and she died as she lived, with incredible grace, dignity and sunshine..."

"you've touched the hearts of MANY PEOPLE who live really really really far away. That is the greatest thing in the world Jules...."

"...she had a gift for bringing out others so that they would share their lives."

"Julia was a beautiful human being. Her goodness will live on."

"Jule was an extraordinary young woman, with a strong sense of self and incredible gifts. She shared those gifts so easily with others and that's something that all who loved her so deeply can be proud of. Until the end, she gave of herself."

"Julia is not far away. She lives in your heart and the hearts of all who know and love her."

"You have so much love, and wisdom...you are so special."

"Julia has gone to a place where there's always love and sunshine, and she will add to its beauty."

" Jule, we all know where you are now, there's no doubt about that, and I myself wanted to say that you will be greatly missed and you will not ever be forgotten. So this isn't a goodbye, because I know you are still with us, just as you were before."

"I try to think that Jule finally learned how to fly. She's finally free."

"For me, I have always loved butterflies, because they are only alive for such a short time, develop quickly, then die, but while they're here, they're one of the most beautiful animals...we are some of the most beautiful people, because we have such a different outlook on life"

G O O D B Y E

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
