Tribute for Lisa by her Mother

Lisa had acute lymphoblastic leukemia with 4 central nervous system relapses. She was diagnosed at age 12, and underwent 3 ½ years of treatment. When she relapsed the last time at age 15, she went in to have a perfect match, unrelated donor bone marrow transplant. She went to the hospital on September 7th 1999 for the BMT, and died from complications of a fungal infection on October 3rd,1999.

Lisa was the bravest person I have ever known. She had a smile that would light up a room, and was loved by many. Her family and friends were her greatest treasures. She was always ready to help a friend, or try to bring some happiness to the other children at the hospital that shared the horrors of cancer with her. Lisa’s beautiful spirit touched, and continues to touch many people. I will always keep her close to my heart. She is my Joy! She is my Angel!
